Terms of Service
Effective date: July 2, 2026 · Last updated: June 16, 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Krateo mobile application (the "App") provided by Carlos Dente, an individual doing business as Krateo ("Krateo", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility and family members
To create an account and set up a household, you must be 18 years or older (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract. The App is for personal, household use.
The household owner is the adult who accepts these Terms for the household. The owner may invite family members of any age via a private invite; by inviting a minor, the owner confirms they are that minor's parent or legal guardian (or are otherwise authorized to consent for them) and accepts responsibility for that member's use of the App. Minors may not create their own standalone Krateo accounts.
2. What Krateo is — and is not
Krateo is a collaborative money-tracking, budgeting, and visualization tool. Krateo is NOT a financial, investment, tax, accounting, credit, or legal advisor, and is not a fiduciary. Everything the App shows — including AI suggestions, payoff strategies, tax-deduction flags, travel budgets, and any "smart" insight — is an estimate and an idea for your consideration, never a recommendation, instruction, or professional advice. Decisions about your money are yours. Consult a licensed professional who knows your full situation before acting. You accept this in-app the first time you use Krateo.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use. Household features let people you invite see shared data; invite only people you trust.
4. Acceptable use
Do not: use the App unlawfully; upload others' data without authority; attempt to breach security, scrape, reverse-engineer, or access another household's data; or use the App to provide regulated financial/tax/credit advice to third parties.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the data you enter ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the App as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to submit Your Content (including receipts and any third-party information they contain).
6. Third-party services
Optional features rely on third parties under their own terms — e.g., Plaid (bank connections), Apple (Sign in with Apple), and our credit-monitoring partner (soft credit-score check, named in-app when you enable it). Your use of those features is also subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
7. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that calculations, estimates, OCR results, or AI outputs are accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose. You use the App at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KRATEO AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FINANCIAL LOSS ARISING FROM DECISIONS YOU MAKE USING THE APP. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE PRIOR 12 MONTHS OR USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Krateo harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or Your Content, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., 2, 5–9) survive termination.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in York County, South Carolina have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the App, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be signaled in-app and the "last updated" date revised. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
