About
From a kitchen-table problem to Krateo
Krateo was not born in a boardroom. It started at home, with a family trying to answer a simple question: why is none of this built for us?
The observation
The financial tools available were not designed around how families actually manage money. What they share. What they keep private. How they make decisions together. Every app assumed one person, one wallet, one way of living. Real households do not work like that.
The work
That realization led to listening: to couples, to parents, to kids earning their first allowance. Then to research, planning, and countless nights of building. The dream slowly took the shape of a product, and the product took the shape of a company: Fort Mill Ventures LLC, a family company in South Carolina. No growth-at-any-cost playbook. A tool our own family uses every day.
What we believe
People first
Krateo is built around people, not around squeezing every dollar out of them. It has to be a real business to stick around. It does not have to be an extractive one.
Privacy is structural
Who sees what is decided by you, and enforced by the system itself: private purchases, surprise gifts, kid-safe views. Not a settings page. The architecture.
Kids belong in the journey
Lifelong money habits begin at home. Krateo gives parents the tools to introduce financial responsibility early, in a way that feels like play, not homework.
Forgiving by design
A bad week is information, not a failure. Krateo fixes the plan, not the blame.
Where we are going
Krateo is more than a way to manage money. It is a platform designed to help families learn, plan, and grow together. If that sounds like something you want to be part of, come build it with us or just start using it.
